Historical Event on 11/19/1838
Keshab Chandra Sen (1838-84), nationalist leader of Bengal, was born in Calcutta. He was one of the first Indians to sow the seeds of secularism in the country. He joined the Brahmo Samaj in 1857 but seperated from it in 1866 and founded Brahma Samaj of India, a radical offshoot of the Adi Brahmo Samaj.

9/2/1911	Chamaklal Dahyabhai Vyas, great poet, was born at Gujarat, Vyara.
1/23/1978	The motto ""Shastra se Shakti"" (Strength though arms) in Hindi written in Devengiri script was approved by the President of India as the motto of the Army Ordnance Corps.The original corps motto of the Ordnance corps was ""Usa Tela Tananti"" found in the arms of the board of Ordnance. This was translated to mean ""To the thunder his arms"". The corps song titled ""Ayudh Corps Mahan"" was introduced for the first time in 4th re-union of the Army Ordnance Corps. The song is to be played or sung ""within unit lines only"", during purely Regimental functions.
2/17/1670	Shivaji won SinghGarh Fort from Mughals. This victory was on the shoulders of Tanaji who was martyred in this attack. Shivaji proclaimed ""Garh Aalaa Pan Singh Gela"" which means that Fort was won but the Lion was lost.
10/2/1952	Community Development Programme started.
8/13/1963	Sisir Kumar Mitra, Physics scientist, died at the age of 73.
3/3/1943	Gandhi breaks his hunger strike after 21 days.
7/23/1976	Hari Chand at Montreal sets record for 10,000m in 28.48.72.
