Historical Event on 5/25/1965
Independent India had further clashes with Pakistan in 1965 and 1971, one over the intractable Kashmir dispute and the other over Bangladesh. A border war was also fought with China in 1962 in the North-Eastern region, which resulted in the loss of Aksai Chin in Ladakh and smaller areas in the North-east. India continues to dispute sovereignty over these areas.

1/1/1948	India raised voice against Pakistani infilatration in the country. A complaint was lodged in the Security Council of United Nation on Kashmir invasion.
12/3/1989	Mulayam Singh Yadav named UP CM.
1/31/1995	ISRO and Intelsat sign a $100 m 10-year-long agreement for leasing some of the capacity of the Indian-built INSAT-2E (scheduled for launch in 1997).
6/30/1999	India reiterates that any talks will resume only after Pakistan's unconditional withdrawal from Kargil. Meanwhile Indian Army continues to attack the Tiger Hill area and captures two positions in close proximity to Jubar features. The Election Commission says that Lok Sabha polls will be held as per schedule.
10/31/1997	Autonomous Prasar Bharati with enough muscle to get Government off its back is promised by Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Jaipal Reddy, while announcing changes to Prasar Bharati Act in New Delhi.
3/1/1971	General Election ( 5th) of India begins.
