1/19/1905Saint Narhari Sonar, a poet-saint of the Varkari smanaj and goldsmith (sonar) from Maharashtra had taken Samadhi. His transition from a staunch Shaiva to a Vithoba-worshipping Varkari, after a miracle that makes him realize that Vithoba and Shiva are one and the same.
9/3/1767Colonel Smith was defeated in the battle of Changama that took place between the combined forces of Nizam and Hyder Ali and the British army. This was the first war of Mysore. The British concluded a humiliating peace with Hyder Ali of Mysore.
8/9/1965Pakistan chose to persist while the Indian Army Corps on the ceasefire line got down to neutralizing the Gibraltar Force. As a first step, main infiltration routes were blocked and Pakistan was forced out of the Haji Fir bulge (known to them as Bedori).
