Paramahansa Yogananda (1893-1952), universalist Hindu, great saint, social reformer, writer and litterateur was born at Gorakhpur. He was the renaissance founder of Self Realization Fellowship (1925) in US, author of famed 'Autobiography of a Yogi' (1946), popular book globalizing India's spiritual traditions.

9/24/1932	Poona Pact' was signed between Mahatma Gandhi and Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar. This historical agreement allowed increased representation for untouchables. Also, Gandhi ended his fast.
3/28/1994	Leaders attack trade protectionism.
10/2/1869	Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi (Mahatma Gandhi) born to a Bania (trading caste) family at Porbander, Kathiawar. He was the youngest of the three sons of Karamchand alias Kaba Gandhi, Prime Minister successively in Porbunder, Rajkot and Vankaner States, and his fourth wife Putlibai.
