6/21/1862Ganendra Mohan Tagore was the first Indian to get the Barrister-at-Law Degree after passing the examination from Lincoln Inn University.
6/21/1862Mian Tansen, a prominent figure of North Indian (Hindustani) classical music and famous singer of Akbar's court, died at Gwalior. Tansen is remembered for his epic Dhrupad compositions, creating several new ragas, as well as for writing two classic books on music Sri Ganesh Stotra and Sangita Sara.
1/15/1949General K. N. Kariappa became the first Indian Commander-in-Chief. He was the first Indian to reach to this post in Indian Army. In 1956, he was designated as Chief of the Army Staff - General, later Field Marshal. This event is commemoratively observed as Army Day.
