Srinagar, July 12 (IANS) An encounter broke out between militants and security forces in the Sopore area of north Kashmir's Baramulla district on Sunday.
The encounter started Sunday morning after security forces got a specific input about the presence of terrorists in the Reban area of Sopore.
As the security forces zeroed in on the spot where the terrorists were hiding, they came under a heavy volume of fire triggering the encounter.
It is a joint operation by the police and the army.
"Joint Operation was launched today early morning on @JmuKmrPolice inputs. Cordon was laid & contact established. Firefight ensued. Joint Operation in progress," the army said in a statement.
