We wanted to share news about toll rates on the State Route 520 and Tacoma Narrows bridges, and announce the release of our annual report.

The Washington State Transportation Commission is proposing increases in toll rates on the SR 520 Bridge:

Weekday and weekend toll rates on SR 520 would increase 5 percent (20 cents) on July 1, 2016, and 5 percent (20 cents) on July 1, 2017.
Nighttime tolling on SR 520 (11 p.m. - 5 a.m.) would begin on July 1, 2017, at a flat rate of $1.25.
The proposed increases will be enough to raise the required $1.2 billion in toll revenue to cover a portion of the new bridge's cost.

The Commission is accepting public comments from now through May 10. You can email the Commission at transc@wstc.wa.gov , mail your comments to WSTC, PO Box 47308, Olympia, WA, 98504, or attend an open house or public meeting:

Seattle: Thursday, April 21
Open House: 11:30 a.m. - 12 p.m.
Public Meeting: 12 - 2 p.m.
Union Station, Sound Transit Board Room
401 S Jackson St., Seattle

Bellevue: Thursday, April 21
Open House: 5:30 - 6 p.m.
Public Meeting: 6 - 8 p.m.
Bellevue City Hall, Council Chambers
450 110th Ave. NE, Bellevue

The Commission will offer a final opportunity for comment and take action on these proposals at its monthly meeting on May 17.

As for the Tacoma Narrows Bridge, the Commission decided to suspend a planned 50-cent increase in toll rates scheduled to take effect this July. The Washington State Legislature provided $2.5 million in gas tax revenues to pay for the bridge's debt service payments coming due between July 1, 2016, and June 30, 2017. The Commission will finalize this decision at their May 17 meeting.

Again, if you have any comments about toll rates, you can contact the Commission at transc@wstc.wa.gov.

We are pleased to announce the release of the Toll Division Annual Report for fiscal year 2015. You can read the report on the Toll Division Library & Resources web page.
